Thanks Wayne (and all). I too wanted the guy to be exactly where he was for the following reasons.

First, I wanted the shot to be less about the subject (person) in the image and more about the mood and atmosphere the image projects.. The wide angle lens exaggerates the dept (although it is a long hallway), and the guy's silhouette is more to show scale and make you wonder about him than to see him in the light and know it's a guy..

I did do a creepy shot in the light of another cellblock at this link http://www.pbase.com/kevgre/image/60515344

And I did one of timed exposure to simulate ghosts in the same cellbock as this (above) image at http://www.pbase.com/kevgre/image/65806431

I'm sure I'll shoot this same cellblock again sometime. Each time, I try for something radically different.

That SD10 pulls in some amazing colors.. I clicked on this after you sent me a comment and my jaw literally dropped.. I so want to go there and photograph this amazing scenery..

This blows me away.. I am a landscape photographer of 30+ years so I know how amazingly beautiful this is.. You don't get this image every day, the conditions, lighting and sky was perfect! Congrats on both the BIP and the POTD <-- well deserved.

Beautiful model and great even light.. Only comment would be to lose (photoshop) that elastic or thingy on her arm, otherwise this is excellent.

I like the tension and drama in her expression.. the warm tones work for me and that dress pops like fireworks in this image..

This particular shot was done "as is" with a 5 megapixel hand held point and shoot Lumix LC1 camera.

Usually, I use a polarizer and a tripod to get rid of unwanted glare from the glass.

The first thing to do is mask the eyes and copy them.. I then paste them back on at 50% opacity.. Then, I flatten the image and grab the color of the white area and at about 25% opacity, brush over the retina and pupil. It's a try till it looks good kind of process.

It was lit by one main light and behind was some silk material hung inside the bathtub which was very reflective.. The room lit up when the strobe fired bouncing light everywhere.

I like the 1D better, but I love the 10 megapixel image size. I shoot between them and find they each have appealing features.. The 1D is built like a tank.. The alpha is not.

It is hard to recommend one, but I am mostly a loyal Canon fan if that helps.. I have a 1D Mark II, 20D and Rebel XT. This shot I believe was with a point and shoot Sony DSC-R1

foreground is lit by 1 single Larson Starfish (directly over the camera).

Back light is 2 lights, one on each side pointing at the back (45 degrees) to blow out the backdrop.

I love this style of photography.. A moment captured.. Now the viewer can take the time to wonder what was going through her mind at this exact moment in time..

The softness was there in the image. I shot it at F2.8 zoomed at 200mm and I'm not great at holding even an I.S. lens too still, so there is probably a bit of camera shake there, but in a way, it made it look more glamourous..

I sharpened the eyes a bit..

You are correct.. I shot different angles for this shot and this shot on the stairs was my fav.

Here's a shot of her behind the stairs.. I felt the focusing on her face (in the original image) and not her hand was more empowering to the image..
