I don't buy it. I'll commend you on your PS work but this has characteristics of the sky being added in. The lighting just doesn't hold true.

I agree with many of the comments that have already been left. It is a great image. Have you burned the sky in? There seems to be some lighter areas in the sky right around the roof lines of the buildings and the sky reflected in the water doesn't seem to match.

Chris-
It was taken near my home in Lincoln Illinois out in the country between Lincoln and a little burg called Emdedn. There were at one point in time several of these bridges crossing a creek that winds through the countryside. Most of them are now left in twisted heaps in farmers pastures and replace by modern concrete bridges.

Ed- great photo. it is interesting where you placed the headstone in the composition; how the negative space is behind the stone. I think that it may just be the scan or your DOF but the area of grass just to the left of the stone seems unnaturally sharp with the rest of the frame.

Jay-
I like the composition and the tone of the image. THe detail in the beard is great. I was wondering if you could dodge his right eye just a bit and bring it forward out of the darkness. What is the story behind the title?

Scott-
I like this image, the model seems to be very comfortable and relaxed. She is makeing great eye contact with the camera. My only suggestions would be maybe a tighter crop and a shallower DOF to blur the leaves just in front of her. But a great image with nice outdoor lighting

Thanks for the comment scott. this was originally a color image, but I am a B & W nut. Attached is a color version. I would have liked some more DOF as well, but I actually shot this handheld and I knew that I was already pushing my luck for a sharp image w/ such a long lense and slow shutter.

lukasz-
i like the composition, almost as if she is just looking for answers or just pondering life. One thing that I think would help is to burn the area on the right side of the photo to eliminate lighter shades.

Yvon-
great shot. I think that I am drawn more to the BW in part because I am a bw type of guy, but the sky in the color seems to be what draws my eye rather than the buildings. I like the tones and lines in the BW. That said, either works well.

Jennifer-
several views but no comments, let me be the first. I like the shot w/ the movement of the water, etc. YOu have used space well here. A couple of things that I think will really help this, level out the bridge in the shot, and imho more contrast would help too. Do you know what fstop you used? A higher stop may have made the flowers in the forground a bit sharper (or it could be in the scan.

harish-
I like what you have tried to do here. A couple of suggestions, if you can, use the exposure lock on your camera or set the camera to manual mode don't change it between the shots. That will help to eliminate the color difference that can been seen on the left side of the photo. The only other thing would be to level out the horizon.

I like the image, framing, lighting, etc. The only thing that really jumps out at me is the watch, seems a bit out of place in the photo.

Thanks for the complements - I guess that I should have said that I also burned in the upper right side quite a bit as well. The sun was actually behind the cloud cover on that side and really washed the sky. I even played in PS for a while to redo the right side but the light in the stream wouldn't have made any sense.

thanks for the suggestion. I knew the DOF was going to be shallow. I was shooting handheld w/o a pod nearby. In some ways I like the way that he seems to be looking past the instrument to something beyond.

This is actually a crop from a horizontal frame, I guess that the grass at the top hadn't bothered me. As far as getting closer I was almost at the pool's edge and didn't have a longer lens.
