Nick,
This is a fantasy picture based on an actual photograph. That is why I listed it under abstracts.

Thank you,
This is part of a larger swamp just off Highway 51 outside of Sanitobia Mississippi. The unusual colors and contrasts drew me to it. I shudder to think what else lurks in its depths (saw several colorful snakes while there)

Miray, That is very kind of you to say. Her name is Naya, and she is the 3 year old daughter of a dear friend of mine. Always smiling, always laughing, and obsessed (that blue thing in her hand is supposed to be a butterfly) with butterflys.

Galal, Thank you so much :-D! These are the children of a very good friend of mine. While I call them: "The Forces of Evil" and "The Bringers of Heartburn", they really are not that bad. The real choir is getting a 3 and 6 year old to cooperate with you and stretch your resolve to the limits. LOL!! But I guess, that is children everywhere. Thank you again, my friend, for the comment. Anthony, This one is great. I love the way the tones compliment each other. The hue of the model's skin, the tint of the wood, even the bluish tone of her fingernails work together. Great shot!!

Tom, You are correct about the late afternoon sun. This photo was shot in early January of this year. I have found the afternoon to be a particularly nice time for portaits as the sun produces soft lighting.
Thanks again, Sven

Giovanni, It's not a problem at all, as I welcome comments as they help me become a better photographer. I shot this at the same place I shot "Road to Nowhere" also on this site. This scene was just across the road. What really struck me at first was the colors, and then I noticed the high-voltage transmission towers receeding into the background. What struck me was that this area of California is very much like the Delta region in my home of Mississippi; flat farmlands to the horizon (in California cropped by hills and mountains in the distance). Thank you again for your comments.

Hi Marco, Thank you for your comment. I do agree with you about the sky. This photo was taken with a polorization filter in place, and sky was a semi-overcast that afternoon. I was driving along a back road in California when I spotted this particular scene and stopped to photograph it. I guess if I had a digital it would have been a bit easier in terms of color balance and saturation, but I am one of those purists who insists on film. :-D

I really like the composition, and the colors. Glad to see that there are others out there, like me, who still like to use film with character instead of the generic digital media.

Robert, Brittney is the daughter of a good friend of mine actually. I have known her for a good bit, but catching a "backhander" from her may actually bit a bit of fun :-D; besides, she is tiny. Maybe 5' or 5'2" at the most and maybe 90-100 pounds soppin' wet. Recently I understand, she has submitted some of my photos of her to a local talent agency and they are interested in her; she wants me to take some more photos of her. It's just time is a problem for me as I'm currently in graduate school at South Mississippi in Hattiesburg, and she lives about 4 hours away. I do have a couple of others that I will be putting up in the next few days though.
Thanks again, Sven

Nicola and Robert, Thank you both. Robert, you are quite right. I did slightly miss the point of focus. This photo was quite the accident though. The phone rang, and she was coming out to get her mother. Brittney is actually a bit camera shy at heart.

Marcus, This one too is magnificent. I have relatives who live near Basel, who I visit every year, and I love the Alps. Incredibly scenery.
Thank you BTW for the kind comments on my photo. My photos go Brittney a shot at a local modeling agency who sent her to a professional photographer.
Thanks, Sven
