It is a genuine silhouette picture with some added water in the lower part of the picture. That was done in Photoshop. You can see the normal version of this pic at this address:

Thanks all,
Charlie, you misunderstood my comments. 400mm on a Canon D60 becomes a 640mm lens because of the cropfactor of the sensor. I didnt use a convertor at all. It was not dark at all, so 1/750 with a 400mm pro lens is not so very unlikely...

Paulo,
Thanks for the comment. I didnt actually have a choice as to where the plane was. It just went by. I was lucky it got near the moon at all...
Ben,
Good to see you here too. Wietse (from A.net)

Sai,
Nope.. Amsterdam Airport is 'famous' for its lack of fences and the possibilities to get up close. If you look at the picture, if you wanted to, you could walk up all the way to the end of the 2nd wheat field. Only there will you be hindered by a canal.
Joksa,
Thanks for the idea, but I think the field gives it a nice atmosphere. I love the color of the wheat. Plus the aircraft is headed for the ground, so i think it should be included in there.
Thanks both,
Wietse

Thanks all,
If I want to photograph an airplane, that is what the photo consists of: - the airplane. Hence the tight crop. BTW it isnt cropped, it is full frame out of the camera

No double exposure. Just full 640mm pointed towards the moon while the plane flew past it.

Thanks all.. well.. thanks to the constructive comments..
"blurry" doesnt help me very much... Just wondering how you would do.. handholding a 640mm lens.
On the point of sharpness: I uploaded it, had a look at it and immediately saw it needed UM.. I think its a shame I didnt apply it...

I had to cut off the wing to get the detail you see now on the fuselage... But thanks for the reply. I have this with both wings on as well, I will upload that too one day.

Thanks for the comment. It is indeed a great shot, But I unfortunately uploaded it at a size that was too big, so it was downsized. By downsizing, the pic got softer, which spoils the entire idea of the shot. The original is glittering with reflections and nice edges...

But! Could this be the staircase inside the St Peter (San Pietro) in Rome? I've been there 3 times now and I have the feeling I know these stairs......

I see. Well, here are the things I plan to do differently next time: - Use wide angle (28 vs 75 this time) - Slides (probably Astia or Velvia) - setting F22, make a couple of shots with different shutter speeds.
more suggestions? Thanks so far!

This was at 2300 hrs. Pitch Black in the alps. closing down all the way to f22 might help? And then let the camera decide what to do with the shutter?

Thanks! I cant seem to scan this film any better, but the original was much better than this. I am going back there this winter and I will use Provia 100 or 400 for the skiing shots and I'll take some Velvia as well. I wasnt really into photography back then!
