Lose that one little dot and you've got a really wonderful portrait.

This is a beautiful portrait and your sister is just a beautiful girl. Love the strand of hair crossing over - perfectly positioned.....the only thing that bothers me a little is the necklace - a different one, maybe, but this one almost looks like a weird fold in her neck.... but this is just a really great shot.....

Did you use a reflector?

Beautiful girl, Elangovan... I like the branches - it seems that the butterfly could've just flown from there and landed on her cheek. Very fanciful.

Great Concept. Seems a little less than vertical to me and I would crop just a little off the top - maybe even make it less centered vertically - but the shot is there - very cool.

Great Expressions! and they made me laugh too.... : )

I love the effect of pushing film but the place I go charges $3 a stop to do it.......ugh!

Hey Thanks , Everyone!

Rob - It was just the regular Kodak B&w select - I think I got it at the drugstore.....definitely not one of the fancier films.... : )

Powerful Shot! There's a part of me that would have had to know what was wrong.... The body language is what grabs me...

I agree too. Though, I think that her upper lip shouldn't be meeting right at the edge - a little more room on top would've been good, I think....

I totally don't mind cropping into a head - I think it's the eyes that matter most..... This is a really cool shot - the idea of it is fantastic. If I were going in any direction with the crop though, I would be interested to see it with a smidge off the top and more on the bottom.... So, instead of a little off each end, there'd be less forehead but the whole chin...... just my thoughts....

Thanks for the comments! I'll have to experiment with that crop. I only wish I could use it for a NYIP project - it seems like my shots never fit the assignment and when they do, I think they look weird..... I did really like the previous post I did of her - which I thought I could use for the 'one light plus reflector head shot' but I don't know....

Thanks again!

Hey Vivek - one of your favs to one of my favs : )

She just looks like someone I'd like to know. Very warm.

I like this, though for some reason, I see a bit (at least one board) cropped from the top. The tilt is a little bit much, but not terrible. Love her expression, and direct gaze...would love to see more from the shoot....

I was very drawn to this shot - the whole concept is just great. something about the hands is a little off - though, I'm not great with hands so take that with a grain of salt.
I really love how one eye is on the vertical center line. Great Shot!

Thanks! It was an experiment and I had fun....

Personally, I liked it a little lighter but consensus was to go a little darker.......oh, well : )

Thanks so much for your comments!

Brendon - I always have trouble with hands......ugh!

Honey - I will definitely look for that book!

Rob - thanks - I'll try to keep the weight issue in mind : )

There's so many parts to getting a good shot - thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely be posting more from this shoot!

thanks again....

This has a definite 'timeless' quality about it. Great location and choice of clothes, too. Dawna makes an excellent point about leaving a little more room around the hands and feet. (Something I usually forget about.....)

Hi - I just started the NYIP course - I'm on unit 3 which I'm just finishing up. So, I haven't officially started the portrait work - though that's what I absolutely love and dream of getting into one day.......

I would love to know more about these discussion groups! Can you leave more info here - I'd love to chat more. Thanks!

Thanks for your comments! This is actually my newest horn and the music is a piece that I played to death in college : ) - one of my favorites - so , on a whole, this means a lot to me.

Good looking group and a good shot - but, if I were the guy on the left, I think I would feel a little weird being the one that's not as in focus. Unless that's what was wanted, I would have tried a little more dof. Must have been fun, I'd love to shoot a band....

I love the colors and she has amazing eyes and hair. My only nit is that I wish the catchlights weren't so centered in her pupils. Everything else is just lovely.

I think this is a cool shot - I can't imagine why there aren't more comments -

I think there's a great tonal range, I like the composition - my eye keeps going from the flame, to the pipe, to his face and back again. Again, very cool.

This appeals to me in many ways - I like the colors and the textures. Nice shot.

A voluptuous, come hither look if ever I saw one. : )

I love the choice of the green background - it works with the hair perfectly....
