Steve this is excellent work! I love the play of light and shadow . . . I like the expression and subject matter too. Personally, I would lose the one bright hair on the upper right. I'd also apply an unsharp to the eyes (selected) and a slight dodge to the whitws of the eyes. I have found a sharpe focal clarity to the eyes tends to nail a portrait down better and increase the dnamic impact of the image overall. I've attached a quick example to give an indication of what I meant . . . but have no doubt . . . I think this is well done!
