It's in both Southern California and Nevada. Death Valley National Park. Sorry the information didn't show, for some reason it isn't submitting it.

No no, I really appreciate the help. I took this with digital using automatic...I was too lazy . Though I do prefer 35mm more I don't want to hassle (i think i spelled that right) my parents to pay for it all and I really need to save up my money for other stuff, even though developing doesn't cost that much. But, really, I do appreciate the help and advice, it really helps!!

Hi Corey, The rules usually state that if you are going to take flower shots, then pick a good specimen. Sod the rules, I like the flower, the soft lighting and the effect you have given using your aperture, but for one point. You can get a little more out of your aperture you used, the top petal is a little softer and less focused. When you focus on a subject using a given aperture, your depth of field extends 1/3 in front, and 2/3's behind it. You might correct this by focusing just a little further back on the flower, or close the aperture a little more, to increase the depth of field. The DOF gets longer with higher aperture values, eg f4 has a very shallow DOF, whereas f16 has a greater DOF. Or you can tell me to bugger off.

Very nice flower. The inclusion of the buds makes it more attractive. Had the pic been taken in a cloudy or overcast day it would've been more appealing.

Hi Corey, Nice shot and a well chosen title! The exposure seems pretty great too - with the sky a deep blue while the mountains and tree are crisp silhouette which works nicely to frame and balance I think. Chris
