I am a film person too. As for this image, I see a magenta cast around the center of the image and a cyan hue to the right. But maybe its just my monitor. Not to worry!

Often films give that cast if shot in the shade ie when the ambient is in a different color temp than the nominal film rating.

Cheers!

I am wondering what went behind creating this image? Ilford is not known to have any color casts at all - it should have been pure Black and white tones.

Cheers!

Luis - Nice picture with good crop and tones.

Did not understand one thing though - this was shot on a digital D100 using Ilford Delta?

Cheers!

A similar one, but the slight alignment to the left makes a good composition. As again, catchlight and the emotions are excellent.

Cheers!

gorgeous!
the natural pose, the emotion in the eyes, the slight catchlight, the composition and the wide tonality makes this a good image.

where do i need to go in California to take pictures like this?

Cheers!

cluttered with a pictorial symmetry. Though there is not center of attention in this, i like the simplicity & the visual convergence of the three distinct colors.

Great composition. I have seen your gallery over and over again and noticed that you have a flare for shooting into the sun. Apart from the difficulty that such a composition poses, each and every shot of yours with the sun in the image, is fabulous.

Congratulations - youre an explorer and a great photographer.

Cheers!

Very impressionistic and moody shot. I love impressions. I found the foreground to be a little over bearing and have provided a different crop. I am sorry, i dont have a good photo editing software and hence have spoiled the nice border.

Cheers!

nice shot, but the saturation / hue has been altered and hence I am seeing an orange cast. As Kristi commented, maybe it would have been good with the "coldness" of winter.

I have a few comments on this portrait:

1. BW adds a pleasant touch
2. the collar could have been cropped out - attached a cropped version & burned the midtones a little
3. the dog is "avoiding" eye contact - this distances the subject from the viewer (sorry i cannot make the dog look at me with my MS photo editor)
4. the colors of the eyes are different.
5. pretty nice depth for a shot so close.
6. appears to be half a stop over, the fur lost details.

Overall - a pleasant personal approach.

Cheers!

Quite a different subject than your horses, and very differently done too. I have not seen any bird of prey pictured at the eye level from the ground. A great portraiture.

Hi Heather, I appreciate your comments and the candor.

I have been doing impressions lately, mostly of natural subjects. BW though still remains my favorite and i still do some from time to time. I still do them on film and tried Scala with a lot of success and pleasure. This one however was done on Provia in Vegas and desaturated in PS.

You could see my gallery at http://www.photoduniya.com/

rupam - this is a beautiful example of pattern and / or distortion. you may have seen very compelling images of how a pattern is broken in several places. Looking into your picture, I found that there is a disruption in the pattern here. I cropped the image and desaturated it, increased the contrast a bit to show you a different view point.
This is not better or worse, this is just a "different" view point.

by the way, i am traveling now and the manipulation is done quickly in some MS editing software.

cheers!

Nice macro! may be the flash was too bright - maybe a diffuser would have helped. Just my thought though.

OK. Now you just made me feel horrible. My comments are now unduly harsh and inappropriate. Sorry!

Moose Peterson is a nature photographer and has made a filter which is a combination of circ polarizer and a warming filter. He has put his name on that!

I have used it quite a while and found it to add that tinge to many images.
