Nice depth of field, sharp focus in foreground, like the muted colors of the dying leaves...

Thanks for you comment on my photo. I checked out you photo submissions, they are very nice, candid portraits... if you have not heard of it by chance, check out dpchallenge.com . It is a fun site and weekly there are different "themes or subjects" that all members try to get photographs of,like this week the theme is Rain on one challenge, and live music is the other. After submission, everyone votes on each photo, and then the photos are rated from top to bottom with the top 3 getting a blue, red, or yellow ribbon. I have not gotten any ribbons yet, but it is very fun, and easy to learn from the critiques that are given. If you decide to join, my member name is HornOUBet, so hope to see you there...

Thanks fot the comment... the light though, is from a night light bulb... this is basically a night light with the shell as the "lamp shade"... wish I could do lighting well enough to take credit for it...

I like this very much. You must be busy, you are not posting many photos... take some time for yourself (and us) and capture a photo per week (at least)....

Hey Bruce, great photo!!! I always visit the pages of people kind enough to comment on my photo's. I am almost always in for a treat, and today was no exception. Also glad to see someone who loves macro's as much as I do... I am jealous of your camera too!! Hope I can afford one some day. Keep up the good work.

I keep practicing, but seem to always have "noise" in my dark/low light/ night time photos... I tried to blame the camera, but some people tell me it's me... anyone have ideas what settings I could change to reduce noise/grainy effects???

Wish you has used a smaller aperture to get slightly more depth of field... glad to see you using the 1000 DTL... I used to use a 500 DTL, until it got knocked off an end table at Christmas a few years ago...

While the Lady in Red was probably your original subject, the ornate lamppost, signs and building really distinguish the uniqueness of this photo... (in my humble opinion)... I like the original...

Very nice photo Lynn, I agree... I think what the camera does is make us STOP, and look at an individual moment that would have otherwise passed us by.... that's my thoughts on it anyway.....

Ahh HAAA !!!! But then again another reason to go digital !!! (Bought a Mamiya-Secor 500 DTL 35mm SLR in 1973 for the preparation of the arrival of my first child... came home from the hospital the day of his birth with a filmless camera......) Kinda like playing air guitar, I guess....

They do look related... I live in central Texas , how about you? Once after a storm from the gulf coast, I went out early to leave for work and thought I saw a bat that had landed on my garage door... as I approaced, discovered it was a moth (missed the photo) and it was HUGE, wingspan larger than my hand, so I figured it got caught up in the winds from the storm and blew in from Central or South America, only wish I could have gotten a photo....

Yes, my boat trailer was in my back yard, and I noticed he had landed near the ground on the tire... what interested me most was I had never noticed a moth with that color pattern, but saw on Megapixel.net another photo (after I took this one) that someone else had taken of the same type of moth... so I guess they aren't so rare...
