very cool contrasts - you could have submitted to equal and opposite too

love the hot, violent colors. you are right about the difficulties of avoiding cliches in this sort of thing, but no problem with that here. very original take.

love this one. we have done a whole series of fire escapes in los angeles and will post one tomorrow. you definitely get the atmosphere of the city here.

the color and composition here are sensational, but the focus is a bit disconcerting. i went through a bunch of your nature photos and saw the same general pattern, so i am wondering if this is a conscious choice? if so, it would help (only because we are in critique corner) if you explained it in your notes. in a couple of your photos, it looked like you were focused on the back of the composition, and the general rule of thumb is to focus 1/3 into the scene from the camera. but if the lighting/speed requirements stick you with a low f-stop, you are out of luck anyway. this is truly a beautiful photo, enormously evocative of the fading of summer into fall. but without some sharper focus, you will not have success blowing it up to print size. you can apply post-processing to sharpen it, but it is much better to get the job done in-camera, yes? just a thought.

this is excellent work, not least because you kept the camera and flash out of the photo. the positioning of the model could not be better, and the reflections and selective focus give it an other-worldly atmosphere. very hot.

nice interpretation - the desert as a locale for zazen, with all that action in the clouds. your model makes a nice bridge between the two, planted on sand with head in the clouds. love it.

beautiful colors. i would not have placed this in toscana without your title - the scale looks more southern. nice work.
