A critique is not a putdown. Critical comments are meant to help photographers improve their work. Simple expressions of approval or dislike aren't enough to tell a photographer why you think a photo is good or bad. I feel when offering critiques or comments you should be candid, critical, constructive, and friendly.
Enough said, here's my critique. This is a good clear subject. The colors are light and natural. There is a distraction with the leaf at the top. With the Subject being so large crop should be square. If you wanted to do a composition shot then you should apply the rule of thirds. Using the Rule of Thirds helps produce nicely balanced easy on the eye pictures. Good places to put things; third of the way up, third of the way in from the left. Here's an example...

This is from a program, Paint Shop Pro 9.01. I did a Screen Print (Ctrl-PrintScrn) of the process I was doing in the program and made a jpg of it. I use this process at work when I'm writing processes for software programs.

I'm trying out a new camera's SUPER Macro. This shot was less than an inch away from the subject. I was using a flourescent ring light which accounts for the Blue edge. I had the camera set to flourescent lighting. This is just and experiment.
Sorry for low quality, There is a learning curve with the new camera... But, it was interwsting how close I gould get...
