Aline,
Thanks for your kind comment. If you would like to see more photos of mine taken in Brazil check out the website www.trekearth.com and look under "retlash"

Paraty is a village half way between rio and sao paulo...a 17th century port where gold went out and slaves came in. The 16 restored blocks of the colonial town are virtual jewels and constitute, for me, one of the most magic towns in the western hemisphere!

Thanks for your comment Margaret. I didn't sit on her knee, but I agree with you that 1000's have...which accounts for the luster. Regards,
Michael

Salut Michele,
Glad you liked the sunflowers. There are fields of 'em just down the road from my place. Now everything is dead and brown and cold here. But come spring, wow! Can't wait!
Regards,
Michael

Salut Michelle,
Yeah I swim with them...but only after having thrown a cow or pig carcass in the river upstream. The piranhas swim in schools and, once attracted to a "feast," they leave all else alone downstream.
I'm not "crazy" in this respect (PhD in animal behavior) but in other ways...yeah, sometimes...ha!

From your portfolio I'm surprised that you say ..."me runs"...in response to my tiny piranha! Some of your shots scare me far more. But they're good...just that some are a tad "scary"! And that's not an understatement coming from one who has swum with sharks and piranhas...
Regards,
Michael

Louise,
This is really a great photo from the standpoint of composition, contrast and shadows. I just checked out your portfolio...I'm duly impressed and doubly grateful, therefore, for the kind words you expressed regarding my "awesome" Buzios boats.
Kind regards,
Michael

Thanks Marcus for your kind remarks about the Buzios boats. I just finished a painting of it in acrylic. In all modesty, the painting is better...ha!

Thanks Kasia for your comment. Yeah, I was lucky with the lights. Don't ask me how...could never repeat it...ha!

Lovely macro with good dof and awesome colors! As a zoologist I'm not up on my plants, but are you sure that this is a hollyhock. The hollyhocks in my garden look quite different.

Michael

Nicely composed, photographed, and entitled. The feeling upon looking at this is really one of "serenity."

Great macro! By the way, living with and loving a Brazilian, I contradict you...there ain't no such animal as a "simple" Brazilian...ha! I really like your portfolio...you got a great eye!
Warm regards,
Michael

Nice shot. Perhaps cropping a bit of the sky and enhancing the contrast would improve it even more. It would have nice had you used a telephoto lens (ex. 180mm ) to draw in the planes.

Michael

Hi Gayle,
Glad you liked the wine glass shot. I agree that it would have been better for more "breathing space" at the top. Normally I respect the minimum olfactory distance...ha!

Michael
