Great capture of a frozen world. The color, and the lack of color make this an exceptional photograph. I love it. Wonderful light!

Thanks Torstein. I liked the effect that the IR filter gave here. Was lucky to get them as sharp as did as exposure was over a second. Thanks for the kind comment...

Hi Judi! A long time ago you commented on a request that I had made to you about your lanscape technique. I'm sorry that I never got back to you about that, but have not had much chance to do any photography since then as I have been VERY busy in my new job. Does your offer to help me still stand?
If so, I have taken the liberty of posting an image to you that we could work with...
BTW I love your latest work!

Regards
Seano

This is our first, but hopefully not last meeting on the pages of "Usefilm", Mr. Nel. Your photos (and as there were not too many I opened all of them) show me that you probably live in London, a city I spent one of the most important years of my life in, in 1969-70, at the Tavistock Center, learned to love and visited several times later for shorter visits. I decided to comment on this photo, because it was the one which, although it was not the last photo you posted and hence the first one I saw, caught my eye immediately by its mysteriuos atmosphere, enhanced by the colors you gave it. You wrote about another photo of yours that it was eligible for best picture of the year. I think this one could compete with it. In general I saw in your photos a very good use of light, which is the essence of photography, as well as a sense for composition a sense of humor, without which life would be dull (your "Reclining Nude") and a tendency for introspection and self observation.
You are, of course, invited to read my bio and pay futher visits to my portfolio. In my bio you will find out that I am a psychoanalyst and your tendency for self observation leads me to the thought that if you would liked to, and sent me your e mail address to
rafael1930@bezeqin.net
with Usefilm and your book in the subject line, I would be more than pleased to send you the book I wrote the subject at no cost to you. You might get an idea about the book at
www.drspringmann.com
on which site the most important issues to pay attention to are Dr. Joyce Mc Dougall's preface (she is one of the leading figures in the psychoanalytic community) and the story of Adam, the first schizophrenic patient whose psychotherapy is described in the book. This has nothing to do with an attempt to diagnose you, (I would not dare do such a thing in these circumstances) except for your tendency for self observation and the book was written with the interested non mental-health professional also in mind. Several UF friends have received it from me in this way and so far there were no complaints.
In the meantime, I thank you for your very kind words about my "Prayer at 30.000 feet." You ask for about my train of thaught leading to the conclusion of that photo. This is a question not easy to answer. The original photo was taken several years ago and there were too many figures on it that I felt distracting. It was impossible for me to crop them out, at least at my stage of dexterity in photoshop, which is less than yours, so I started using various filters, trying them one after another, using some, retracting others, until I thought the photo was what I wanted it to be.
Best regards,
Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann
