Thanks John. My ears are still ringing but I'm pretty sure there's no permanent damage, fingers crossed.

Excellent portfolio. I know you're Japanese but you seem to have spent some time in china. Just visiting or did you live here? I'm from Ireland but I know live in Shanghai. I used to live in Kobe though. Nice work.

Just incredible. You seem to have similar interests to me. My daighter is starting ballet classes soon and I just can't wait to take photos of her. You got that moment just right.

I love the image. I can only echo the comments above about the magical fairy tale quality. The trees are fantastic. My only grumble is that the girl looks badly photoshopped in. She just doesn't convince me that she's there, and not in a magical way. But it's a great concept and overall a great image that deserves all the attention that it's getting. Well done.

(I think I'll head over to your gallery to see your other photos now.)

INSERT BORING COMPLIMENTARY COMMENT HERE: I like it. It is an excellent shot well deserving of the award.

Thanks Sam. I took quite a few pictures of this guy but I liked this one the best. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said Zen Like. That's probably what makes it work for me too.

Thanks Samuel, it was a priveledge to observe them in action that close up. The way they managed to mix power and grace was astounding.

I have to be honest I hadn't even noticed it looked like a dragon, thanks for pointing it out. Now I can pretend that it is the reason I took the photo! It's real though not added in Photoshop.

This is really a comment on all your photos but I had to pick one. You commented on my photos and as you are a Shanghai native I had to take a look at your work. Fantastic. I love your ideas, your compositions and the muted colours you choose. I've already fav'd a couple but there is probably a dozen I would choose. Great photos.

I've seen a girl take a photo of a senset on a distant mountain range in Huang Shan here in China with a flash. That made me laugh, unless she had a nuclear reactor built into it I don't know how she was going to light up something two killometers away.

Brilliant. That made me laugh! I'd love to know exactly what they are looking at but... then that is why the shot works so well.

It's a block away form Hua Hai Lu, near the famous 'copy' market where you get all the counterfeit goods on Central Yan'an road.

Most files contain EXIF data which stores all the information from the digital camera. If you download the jpg and open the file, the file info will tell you everything. However some people 'strip' the EXIF data from the file so you can't retreive the info.

I like it a lot, nice choice of composition and DOF. The only thing I find distracting is the logo on the jacket.

That's soem compliment. Thanks. I wish there had been a little more space on teh left side of the photo but it was tricky trying to whip the sheet off her head and press the shutter at the same time.

No problem. Not filling in the details is due to laziness rather than secrecy. But I don't delete the exif data so you can still probably find out from the file. This shot was taken at 100 ISO, shutter speed 1 sec and aperture was f/6.7 lens was 28mm. Obvoiusly on a tripod.

I love the camera. i went from a 10D to the 20D and in a word: fast. Fast turning on, very fast auto focus and fast clearing of the buffer. Also with the kit lens immeasurably light. Not to mention the extra pixels.

Thanks Thilo. The photo is very definitely underexposed on purpose. If you look at my other pieces you'll see I'm experimenting with lights at night and trying to create caricatures/silhouettes of people using slow shutter speeds.
