Perfect. Narrow DOF with selective colour work really well here.

Very simple, very effective. You couldn't have done anything to improve it.

That's really very kind of you Roberto. It's always nice to receive positive comments from someone with a portfolio as good as yours.

I really like your portfolio... particularly the portraits. There's something a little 'old-fashioned' (in a good way) about many of them. 2 words that sum them up for me are 'relaxed' & 'warm'.

Bruce

It was the exposure I was concerned about. Many thanks for taking the time to comment.

Josh,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I really couldn't decide whether to leave it in or clone it out. Initially I thought maybe it spelt travel a little more leaving it in, but I think you may be right.

Cheers,

Bruce

Perfect timing. Rugby is pretty much all I've done with my cam over the last year. Love this shot.

That looks like it's about to really hurt! Nice timing. Looks like you've been to a lot of really beautiful places and brought back some great photos Dave. Nice portfolio.

Cheers,

Fantastic action shot. Criminal that it hasn't had more views yet. Great clarity and colours and the timing is perfect. Very well done.

Cheers Jason. The colour version of this and the other 2 I've posted today will go to the local rag.... and I think you're right... they'll probably go for this one.

Nicely composed, good use of colour and light. I like it.

Just had a quick shuffle through your portfolio. You do like your colour and patterns don't you? Really like most of what you've got in there. Good stuff.

Cheers Danny.

I know what you mean about the grain. You would have been shooting for the press? I only send to my local rag and would never send one like this. Works for me on a fun level though.

As for the tackle.... it's got to be close... ref didn't call it though. A lot of the time I don't see the action as clearly as a spectator at the time. I see the impact coming and make sure I get it but don't actually see it, if that makes sense! Too busy making sure I don't stuff it up! It's only once I get home and everything onto the computer I really know. I didn't see his arm that high at the time, but I knew it would be a solid impact and give me something.

Been there, done that.......... sadly nowhere near as well! Fantastic shot. I know the patience required to take this kind of shot. Great work. Well done.

I've just wandered through your portfolio feeling a mixture of amusement and bemusement in equal measure. It's apparent from your titles if nothing else that you're clearly certifiable... in the nicest possible way of course! ok, maybe not quite certifiable but you have an unusual perspective on life which makes your work intriguing. Some really great stuff in there. I'll be sure to dip in often.

Cheers,

Bruce

I am loving it right now. It helps that after a slow start they're cruising now, and it's always easier to shoot a winning team. I was using a 70-300 G lens last year but it was too slow and the images even when I had the light weren't as sharp as I'd have liked. I don't have the cash for a 300mm 2.8 so for now I'm strolling the sidelines with my 80-200mm. I find I get my best stuff from the side now. When I started I just stood behind the tryline and of course if they have a bad game you get nothing. I missed a really over the top diving try yesterday because I was halfway down the pitch and he ran from 70m all the way jinking and sidestepping all the way. Fantastic try... I got the sequence which was good and the back of him as he dived over the line! Going to have to save up for more reach. I did cricket all over the Summer. I'd love to try non-traditional sports... there are a lot of good bike & skateboarding shots on Usefilm, but there don't seem to be that many events around my area. Enjoy the boxing.... Wouldn't mind a go at that myself one of these days (shooting, not taking padded fists to my face).

Cheers,

Bruce

Really nice capture. You've been shooting for a few years then Danny?

I remember all the fuss about her citizenship and then that clash with Mary Decker in the 3000m final in LA.

Keith..... "Budd currently lives on her parents' farm in Bloemfontein, with her mother, husband and three children (Mikey, Azelle and Lisa). She runs primarily for pleasure now, 10-15 miles a day, but has only run competitively on occasion in recent years."

I shoot for my local team... send a couple to the local paper for them each week, post them on their website and sell a few prints to the players here and there. All pretty informal but good fun. As it stands I don't seem to be getting out shooting anything else right now but I'm sure I will as the winter comes on. Thanks for your kind comments.

Great colours, good dof. I still find it amazing that we can see photos from so many different places around the world and so many different styles here at Usefilm. I like this shot. Well done.

I really like the frame! I'm not sure it's the right one for this shot. The compostion and content of your shot I like. My gut feeling is that the tone is too 'orange' but that's personal preference. It might seem that way because the frame is duller. My overall feeling is that the shot is nice but that you could present it a little better. I hope you take this as being meant constructively.
