oo-er! that effect brings out a new intensity that I wouldn't have thought of before! In B&W his eyes look deep blue rather than brown, and I think that's what makes it look a little scarier! thank you, i may print this B&W and send it to him mum!

This grabbed me...I love the expression in those eyes!...well.. I was tempted to mess with it a bit. I sharpened, went black & white....and dodged his eyes to bring out a little "glow" ..what do you think..?

Those delicate pink blossoms so fragile and transluscent against the dark wood of the bare branches is a dramatic contrast. My digital is automatic also and I understand the limitations but mine sure is nice and small and portable

I can see what you mean on both points, the composition is very effective with the flowers close and also in abundance in the background but as I well know autofocus can be a pain. Great idea though! Thanks.

You did well with the cropping -- yes, your friend was right, it was a bit of a tease to figure out what part of the body made that pretty curve especially from the smaller image. Fun!

Evelyn, as Les says its a true 'moles and all' picture! the original (here) is just a general point and click, i just cropped it to the 'interesting' bit. i asked a friend why this one should get so many hits - and she said it's because you can't work out what the shot is of!

How did you do that? How did you get such a detailed shot of the back of your head and neck?? Original idea for a self portrait! An unusual perspective for sure.

This is interesting -- it would have been fun to watch him too. I like your composition a lot, except I might have cropped out the other observers at the top of the page to keep all eyes on him. And the light on the swords is hot but I really like them laying out like that on the right side of the photo. Good scene and has nice tension which the title aptly picks up on -- what WILL he do next?

thanks for the advice kostas. I'm not sure about the shutter speed(s) on the litle fuji. its pretty much a point and click thing which is about all i can manage at the moment. i'd probably opt for a cannon 300D if i were to get another camera, as this seems to be the most popular SLR digicam... in the mean time i'll experiment with the fuji and share the results on usefilm! btw - love your work!
