Great night scene, beautifully composed, nice blur on the vendor! Looks like your last film shot...

Just went digital, too - D40 with a 17-55mm lens (great lens!) Got some studio lights too. I'll post a few pix here from time to time... we miss Portugal terribly. Need port - tawny and white! Miss the beach bars at Espinho. Miss the steep streets of Oporto...

Stay well, keep shooting - ciao - N

Boy, I do. A Sandy Nelson LP, of all things... teen beat. Nice nostalgic still life!

Hi Wouter - this feels like a rabbit's eye view of a country road (!)-- tilted horizon and oversaturated color. I think this has potential (just my opinion) to be very good, because your exposure is just right, with detail in shadow and brightness. I would correct the colors, tone them down, take some of the blue out of the tree trunks, etc. Best wishes - N

Branimir - excellent eye for the right composition and moment. You do fine street photography.

Beautiful, eye-catching, and very pleasing, but you have a horrible artifact here - a horizontal line 1/3 from the bottom, and it destroys the photo. Should be easy to fix!

Beautiful shot, wonderful sense of light and tone, and dof taking us outside the room to the right. Excellent photo!

Hello Jan -- this is fun, and great composition (I like shooting eggs, too). A couple of distractions could go away -- the stencil or stamp on the left egg, and a couple of white specks in the pan. That ham looks lethal!! I enjoy this...

Hi Arian -- this is as good as it can be: perfect tone, light, composition, great DOF on all parts of her face while keeping the background out of focus. The eyelight is lovely, and her gentle expression. It also has a classical style... an excellent work!

I like this shot, much for the light and the flecks of water on the cheek and arm, and the sense of beinf cold! Nice photo!

This image is wonderful on the eye after repeated viewings. Fine art, indeed.

Yes, Williamstown, Victoria. His father emigrated from England and had a shipbuilding business... Cousins are variously MacKenzies, Whites, Cuthbertsons, scattered around Victoria and NSW...

This is lovely - you have such variety of subjects and techniques!

My grandfather was born in Williamstown, btw... I've never been to Australia but I must someday -- plenty of cousins there!

The balance (and arrangement) of color and form here is terrific - it's a great photo! The piece of hatband extending far left echoes the curve of her red shirt, and eye color, hatband, and hair offset the powerful reds. There's something extending from the far side of her lips that could be a distraction (it was for me) -- but overall this is a beautifully composed portrait. Best regards - N

Sebastien - I like your work a lot... this one is very strong, a great face streaked with (I guess) tears, and blurry adults behind. I'd love to know the circumstances of the photo -- who the other people are, why you chose to blur them out... I think this is a great shot, well done.

Yes, this is lovely... very strong composition this way and added mystery because of the quality of the light. Thanks for your reply!

Hi Txules - this is a real eyecatcher, and I think a lot of it has to do with tonality and composition (which I think is fine). Have you tried cropping to straighten the horizon - or do you want the subtle effect that he is paddling uphill? Also (and this may be the intrinsic ghostliness of digital shots like these) the surfaces and tones feel metallic, which I feel inhibits the tranquility of the scene a bit. Still - just my opinion, and overall I think it's a beautiful piece.

Nice shot, very poignant and strong sense of isolation... I used to live in NM and wished I had taken some photos like this one. One thought is, if you'd shot from a lower angle I think there might be more power in the composition, with the portable toilets rising up a bit and the mesas in middle background profiled by the sky... a series of small monoliths if you will. Otherwise, a fine photo.

Hello Dawn - I'll have to get there someday (we don't live too far...) I enjoy good photography of the "Old South" and this is a fine picture with good detail and a slightly forlorn feeling. Nice work.

Anindya - thanks for your comment, and I was happy to find this photo, which I think is an excellent portrayal of a family in a bad mood (!) The man (father?) looks a bit frightening in his dark shadows. A fine street photo. - Ned

I love this - you have a great sense of tonality and character... a wistful mother with the boy holding his arm behond her head. A fine moment and good composition. - Ned

Very pretty, moody, and evocative, with an angry (or at least irritated) sky. I like this a lot.
