Marcus -- Great capture! Just as crip and well presented as the other birds you shoot. Well done.

My dad had an old Chevy. A 1953. It looked like a VW Beatle on steroids! Judging by the grill on this classic beauty, it looks to be from before 1953. Hope you found the fountain of youth! Take care

Cheers,
-Mike.

Don -- This is a well executed capture! Capture? See how digital has taken over our vernacular? I read that this was shot on TMax 100, yet I call it a capture . . . Well, I suppose capture even works for images "captured" on film. Anyway, great image. I like the composition and the B&W presentation. I especially like the deep tones against the left edge that work to keep our eyes on the flowing falls.

Cheers,
-Mike.

Jean-François -- Very nice image! Great control in it's capture and outstanding work in it's post processing. I like the subtle contrasts in color and the deep, dark tones that keep the eyes from straying too far from the subject. Well done.

Cheers,
-Mike.

Pablo -- A terrific character portrait! The image is crisp where it needs to be crisp and your post processing is very good. I like the gaze of your subject. Can't help but look to the left to see what he's seeing. Well done.

Cheers,
-Mike.

Bohamdan -- Great portrait! First rate composition and processing. You subject is outstanding, too. I love the intense look about him. He seems to have great strength of character.

Cheers,

John -- oops, I used a wrong word . . .

In my above post I said: "without composition from the reflected shadows to the left"

I didn't really mean to say "composition." I meant to say "competition."

Guess my spellchecker doesn't check for correctly smelled ;o) words that are misused . . .

Hi, John. Although I like your horizontal composition of this scene, I think I like this vertical composition better. To my eye, it better isolates the zig-zag of lighter tones across the water, letting it become the dominant visual element without composition from the reflected shadows to the left (in your horizontal image). Likewise, I think the sky is stronger in the vertical composition, too. Also, I like your placement of the horizon line, lifting our eyes from the darker tones in the bottom of the frame to the lighter tones just above center frame. Well done!

Cheers,
-Mike.

Desktop background? Yes it is! Very simple, peaceful scene -- just exactly what you need for your workstation's background wallpaper. I may have put the horizon-line a little higher in the frame, though, showing a little more of that golden water in the foreground. I think you may have a little cropping room above those clouds, if you choose to crop it a little. Overall, great work!

Cheers,
-Mike.

Chris -- This is a nicely timed capture. I love how you've managed to contrast the gentle curve of exhaust plumes against that soft, blue sky. Overall nice colors in the image. Great shot!

Cheers,
-Mike.

Nice symmetrical composition. That linear distortion really plays nicely into this composition. I also like the contrast in colors. Great job, and congratulations on receiving the award.

Dave! Very nicely done! I love the long esposure, motion-blur effect on flowing water. I like how you've divided this composition roughly into diagonal thirds using the foreground and background rocks. There's a few hot-spots in the lower-left stream, but this is an overall nice composition. I especially like your use of DOF. That subtle fall-off in focus towards the background adds to the sense of depth.

Good stuff,
-Mike.

p.s. Looking forward to viewing your photographs of the fountain of youth :)

Fred -- this is a very color little guy. I really like the catch-light in his eye. The little white circles behind him and to the lower right are a bit distracting, though. Maybe clone over them? I really like the saturated colors from the dampness. Good work.

Cheers,
-Mike.
