Gary -- I like the contrast of dark tones to light tones in your photograph. It leads your eyes right through the image. Also, I like your means of framing Teepee Mountain between the two tall, bare-bottomed pine trees.

Cheers,
-Mike.

Very nice colors and textures in this scene. I like the layering of clouds: small patches of denser clouds hanging below the higher level of thin, wispy clouds with patches of clear showing through. Your composition is excellent to maximize the showing of contrast in this scene.

Howie -- Two things I really like about this image: 1) the channel of reflected sky that leads my eyes deeper into the image, and 2) the transition from the foreground gold in the water to the lavender and bluish hues at the horizon and in the sky. My only criticism would be the softness at the horizon; however, one could argue that the softness adds to the almost dreamy feeling invoked by the other elements of technique and composition employed in this image. Well done.

Best Regards,
-Mike.

P.S. I've been enjoying a stroll through you very diverse portfolio. Keep shooting!

Ali -- Given my fondness for slow-shutter, in-your-face water shots, I was quickly drawn to this version; however, in my heart I still preferred the other image. I couldn't say why until I had flipped between the two images (repeatedly). The far-side stream bank in this image nearly divides the image in two equal halves. The prior image places the stream bank further away from the middle and, to Kathy's point, introduces a third compositional element: the shallow water in the foreground of the stream bed. I do agree that the little branch in that stream foreground is distracting, but I still prefer that image. As TV icon Homer Simpson may say, "Stupid branch!" Both shots are of superb quality, Ali. Keep shooting!
