beautiful composition, and the rich colour is so engulfing. i love the brick red colour, and the texture of the upper card is gorgeous. the contrast between negative space and filled space is mezmarizing, i can hardly tear my eyes away, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

i love these kind of images - when we can only see a bit... and yet so much?

Congratulations Karen on the EC award of today, I'm very impressed with your self portraits, I find them exceptional, this one in particular for the tones and composition, and mystery. Outstanding work! Ina

Exquisite imagery, Karen...truly. Once again, a strong sense of mystery and melancholy, with a touch of playfulness, the whole laced with sensuality. A beguiling image, perfectly composed.

Hi Thilo, this image was taken with me holding up two squares of black construction paper in front of my face as shown. In the unedited version you could see a bit of my eye and some of the surrounding skn in the upper left, but after adjusting contrast you can no longer see it.

Hi Karen,

great idea and concept. I like the hiding theme here with the straight quadratic forms. I wonder if this is done in PS or in real photography. You may mail me the answer =)

have a great 2006!

best wishes,
Thilo

Hi Karen, Very creative shot; the use of the quadrants, as well as the gradient in the light are "more than proficient". I would only liked to have seen a tad more details in the top right quadrant; no matter how faint, as long as your eye would be recognisable. I like thwe way Paul has put it.

Very inspiring work,

Cheers,

Hugo

Ohhh Karen - this is fabulous!!! I think this is one of my absolute favorites of your works. I normally don´t like to talk in that kind of terms, cause of every works difference, genres, styles and so on. But this minimalism, clean surface, lovely tones and also mix of them in a very good way... the superb crop of your beautiful mouth. All this is stunning and i add it to my favorites and would also like to see this image on my wall Happy new year Karen, to you and your family.

I always sense a sort of Manichean dualism in hard equal contrasts like the one you have here...... and maybe the face is that of a gnostic revealer. A new-age neo-manichean icon? In any event this one should keep 'em guessing:)))))))) Superb image and excellent photographic qualities, Karen.

karen... this may be the most remarkable photograph i've seen on usefilm. and i don't say that lightly. i don't know what else to say without taking way too much space to write. this is gallery work. this is something i would hang on my walls. your vision astounds me. you are a true artist and deserve that recognition... david

WOW!
The dark in the upper left quadrant implies that there is negative space, and thus no face.
Strong shot, Karen.
