I love those big round eyes, Todd! Gives me chills up my spine! Good timing... The dark colors really help enhance the owl's eyes too.

The one and only Great Gray Owl, yes sir! I am a little surprised that you have not seen one in your neck of the woods, but I'm just assuming that from your question. We have been very fortunate to have these visitors for the last two years. They make amazing subjects!

Hi Tom,
Actually, I did lighten it up already. See, this was the first outing with my camera and I made a few mistakes. One was leaving the ISO setting on 100 as it started to get dark. The higher ISO numbers were a serious problem on my last camera, and habitually, I never thought to check the setting. Any more lightening would have caused the eyes to wash out, so I compromised.

Hej Todd,
this reminds me one film I saw at international movie festival two years ago. Even the movie was from India, it was 3 hours long time running documentary about journey accross the whole country and I rememnebr one moment, when bird was sitting on wooden gate and there far away appeared a long train :) this picture reminds me that moment and I really loved that movie...as well as I like your picture
