About Taken at dawn on Sunday 22nd January 2006. This shot required a degree of forward planning. The sun will only rise from this exact point for a short time each year. Also the tide had to be right to get this effect with the slipway. Finally I needed a bit of luck for both to happen at the same time - and on a Sunday too!

I used a 0.9 ND Grad filter to balance the bright sky with the foreground and a 81 series warm-up filter to accentuate the early morning colours (there are other shots taken at more or less the same time without the 81 filter - I prefer this one).

Exposure was approximately 3 seconds at f22 to get the soft effect on the water.

great image, though I also like the shots w/o the 81D filter.
Excellent composed shot, the diagonal clouds add are increasing the dynamics.
Very nice toning in the bottom part - guess its easier to say: simply great

Your planning and patience paid off. This is a fabulous shot. I am so glad that all the elements came together for you. The tones, the colours, and textures are superb. Awesome.

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Sounds like you put a bit of effort into this one; the result was definatelly worth it, everything is correctly exposed, the warm colours are lovely and the texture of the slipway really makes this shot a good one.

Finally the low angle and the long exposure helped to make this shot perfect. Bet it would look lovely as a print on your wall.

Regards,
Ciprian
