Hi, the flower is a bit over exposed tho, you could have fixed that in photoshop...
Shadows and Highlights, read the help file, i don't have time to explain how it works.
Oh and I saw that the pic is overexposed by taking it into photoshop, going to levels and dragging the highlight slider to the left AND holding in Alt.
good tip, use it.

Thanks for your response to my forum post, and for posting your bee! A very serendipitous shot indeed. How did you get him to stand still for long enough? I spent 20 minutes pursuing a hapless bee around the garden yesterday, but the thing just wouldn't stay still. :)
Bluebell time indeed! They're already out "down south". I was hoping to get some photos myself today, but the light wasn't up to much so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow will be better.

Hello again Ray,
I've been interested in macro photography for years, but up until now I just haven't had the equipment to pursue it. Buying the D70s really opened up a world of possibilities, and after I bought the 70-300mm lens, a macro lens was the obvious next choice. So here we are. Thanks for the tip on the tripod - it makes a lot of sense. I've been playing about with the lens this last few days to see what it can do - I don't know whether most of the results are worthy of posting on here, but I'm having fun and hopefully my shots will improve soon...

You seem to be getting some pretty impressive results with your Tamron lens! I've just had a peek at your portfolio, you have some super shots in there. If this is what the lens can do, then I'll be more than happy with my choice. :)

You certainly will enjoy macro work Sqirl - it is a different world !!
Just put up that piccie I promised you - it was quite a challenge lol
Off to work now boo hiss ... though the bluebells will be coming out in about a weeks time here so will take some days off and put up some more pix soon.

Welcome to the world of macro SQirl....I love it and I am sure that you will also. Always use a tripod in macro as the slightest tremor records in the shot unless you use a very fast shutter speed.
This is a lovely shot of a daisy? showing through the grasses in the background. Beautiful rich colour and a perfect dof. Well done to you, now get busy with that macro lens:):) Very best wishes...Ray

Hi SQirl...I read your question about macro lenses in the forum. Just wanted to let you know I also have the Tamron 90mm macro and love it! It's everything I hoped a real macro lens would be.
This is a nice start, the dof is great...keep it up and show us some more!

Great macro, I took a similar photo a couple of years ago, I used a Photoshop to create a mask of the green background and then I used the color pencil filter on the green only, it makes a pretty cool effect.
