This type of roof you can find quite often on such small towers at the corners of old buildings. They have many veriations but the style is similar to this one here. I don't know if it is Swiss tradition, but I wouldn't assume that, since the traditional Swiss architecture is quite different than this - much simpler and "country" look and feel.
