the gesture of raising your arms as if to embrace the light creates a sense of yearning or searching...like you are waiting for that soul-defining moment. the halo of the light, the shadow of your arms, the wrinkles in your shirt and the gradient light on the wall all make you focus on the interaction between you and the light. as if the light is a tangible object or entity.
it is bleak and forlorn...the stark patterns, low key lighting and litter on the ground seem reinforce the lonliness...yet you are reaching out of it.
very interesting.
