About Stop browsing and hear my story :) My tribute to "real" old photography ...

I know digitals are bad, image effects should never exist. Because when you loved photography, that's how you loved it.

I'm questioning myself, did you respect the old photography then ? When we're checking our grand-fathers albums, we barely see "white" paper. Because at those times they weren't painting hay-tree products in white, (the color is yellowish a little isn't it ? :)) their "picture taking" was burning less-lighted parts that reflects to the small glass and everything was this glass's reflection burnout. Do you know what was burning the picture ?

Well surely, I have never seen an "old photography" picture at web yet. Few of us have it in our homes ...

When I created this picture's color filters, I have taken after-burn colors in a (hay?) papers. (I really don't know how to put these here though, I'll probably explain this whole 9 color layer process later on. Because even processesing it knowingly; it takes at least 30 minutes. For a first time user it will be around 1 to 2 hours for one single picture. ) Then worked my filters around them.

To tell the truth, we used to "tab" our pictures in labatories or machines and expect a nice outcome from our cokin filters, our camera and its settings. Well, know ... We're still using a machine. We're the technician, thanks god since we shot the picture, we can make the income as perfect as we can :)

Well, at the photo's story .. Today I went out for taking photos, I saw these kids playing; unfortunately it was the end of the game and they made their "fair-play" salut to each other. They were smiling to each other even though one of them has lost. Well it was a nice moment to my eye. Since during almost my whole life I was a soccer hooligan. (I don't know if I'm still, I didn't watch any soccer game at a stadium since 2 years).

Jpeg compression level 7 (out of 12)

Kind Regards;
Onur Aydin

P.S : Please don't hesitate to comment whoever you are, however you know photography. That's how I'm improving myself. I have to see every vision I brought on other people eye's as well.

When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought this was a scan of an old print. After reading your explanation of what you set about to accomplish and the pains that you took to make the image, I too was quite impressed. I enjoy casting some of my images in sepia, thanks to Photoshop. Your process yields a very nostalgic result. Very good work here.

Onyur,

Do you want to know where this fails? It is too crisp!! ;) The color is right, the subject is wonderful. The hills are too civilized.

One young team as this, only can make fair play :)
Nice tones, mood and framing, I think that the whites are too much "burnt". But is a excellent document, congrats!

Onur,

Great picture - well framed, the hill in the background and the tone all make it. I agree with your writing with it as well. Photography is fun, our camera's a tool, our eye hopefully the master, regardless of the equipment used. Delighted to meet you, welcome to Usefilm.

I'll post an answer to my mystery shot once a couple more people have guessed - your's is pretty good though :)

I don't disagree with your words, but I would like to hear a more concise explanation of the "process" that you talk about utilizing filters. Can you explain this a bit more? Please tell us about the 9-color layers.

Onur, I read every single word of your "story"... agree on most of it... Find this picture is a very nice, and it has a great contrast on your "only" other photo in your album... keep posting...

PS: I think because it is low compsression level, that created that edge between the sky and the mountain!.... any way... I like the picture.. it is doing the hard part... telling a story

When I first saw the thumbnail of the image, I thought, "wow, and old time photo". Maybe I am different, I like what digital offers, I like the modern technology. I would spend weeks trying to figure how to compose a photo without the telephone poles or lines showing. I like the look and feel of this image, and we too create some of these, in about an hour using PS. Great image.
