Me again :p
I've been flicking back and forth between this version and the colored version, and honestly cant pick a favourite. I think you did a great job with the sky, although I have to admit I get a little bit distracted with the hot spot of the sun, especially in this version. But thats just me. I like the vignetting too, it did make a subtle but effective difference.
Looks like a great place to go to take photos, I'll add it to my list of 'places to go when I win the lotto'...

Thanks for the comment Natasha! I love getting them. Certainly go back . . . I know I will! Great tour too if you haven't taken it yet! If you want great photo opportunities . . . check out their Palace of Fine Arts in the morning or evening there. Simply beutiful . . . particularly the lagoon and swans. Also . . . the 52nd floor of the B of A building has the Carnelian Room open to the public . . . where you can get shots from ABOVE the TransAmerica building. It's ALL good!

This image speaks to me more so in black and white then in color. I have always wanted to tour this place, maybe one day!? The cloudscape adds much to this image in my opinion as does the toning! :)

I'm one of the ones that requested that you post this one in B & W.
I love the tones and I think the B & W gives this image a whole different feel. I love the sky and the darkness you created. It gives the sky a very good feel of how life was during the years that this was an operating prision. Very grim future for anyone behind the walls.
Excellent work my friend.

Now we're talking my friend...I would imagine this is how it looked to the prisoners...a dark, cold, inescapable hell! As Ray observed...the conversion lends more power, has more impact. Great job Doyle...and you met the deadline! ;)
Take care...Robin

very nice in B&W tones Doyle...the sky looks spooky , the Rock looks spooky , and the sky seems to lead, the eye back to the focus of the prison. My eyes anyway. I also like the crop... Well done as always my friend, Michele~

A good alternative composition my friend. Lends more power to the subject with a greater dramatic punch and an air of complete bleakness.....Well done Doyle an excellent conversion. Good to see you on the front page albeit as the subject of a selected comment. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray:)
