As always, your insightful critiques are well recieved and appreciated. This composition did have the risk of being very busy, as you so aptly put it; and I agree setting my focal length tighter, and perhaps using a shutter speed at 1/500th by 2.8 f apeture would have produced a more desirable effect.

Duncan, the image is well presented, your border suits well, however the photo is rather "busy". I believe a much tighter cropping would have conveyed the same story as well as removed the "central compositional error". To be fair - having the image as it is right bang in the middle does work - however consider my tight cropping suggestion. Even with my tighter cropping the image is still rather busy and possible setting the DOF so the background is even more out of focus would have brought the seeds and old leaves into detail. You would probably need to change the camera position slightly to increase the amount of greenery. Your exposure is spot on. There is a lot of potential here.
