Of course it is an excellent capture Suvomoy... as you said it is ritual... and carries a lot of the essence of the cutlture... Composition wise it is very good, but I feel there are so many things are going here... may be less cloth, Don't know... my eyes are not focuse even on the crimson red color

This is really brilliant in my opinion Suvomoy. The fact that you closed in on the hands conveys a lot of sensitivity to the subject. The person's hands convey as much as his face could convey in terms of feelings, present and past. Tina Modotti did an extraordinarily powerful image of a laborer's hands that conveyed so much as well. One took this one step further, however, by including the folds of his garment which conveys solemnity and ceremony here. Wonderfully done.

Thanks for the reply, now I know a bit more about the scene. I love the way you have captured age in the old mans hands as well. Very well done.

Reply to Ross: This is a very typical Hindu ritual...offering flowers. The red dye is also used with all holy activities, its not blood. The different movements and postures have different meanings...all connected to deep root Hinduism, which francly I dont know in detail.

Not sure exactly what the hands are showing us? A flower of some description, but I'm not sure on the significance here. Is that blood or food colouring on the hands? Maybe you could tell the viewers the story a bit deeper behind this ritual. Nicely composed & very intriguing.
