About	Another ant macro using the PowerShot G3, this has been cropped a bit in PhotoShop. The ant was guarding the nest as the other worker ants rebuilt after the rain. The lighting here was fairly tricky, the ant was backlit by direct sunlight so I used a piece of styrofoam attached to the front of my camera to act as a reflector for the sunlight and a diffuser for some built-in fill flash, I was very happy with the way this setup worked. I hope you like it.

To get the ant this large in the frame I zoomed (optically) as far as I could, manually focussed as close as I could, then I cropped the result to get the ant this size. This is only a small portion of the full frame. I didn't use an add-on lens. The G3 will focus to approximately 12cm, combining this with the 4x zoom does allow quite large magnifications.
