Hi Subha - and all! I just went to your linked pic (great picture) but was astounded with the similarity to a shot I submitted a couple of months ago! I will post a link to my "Sierra Storm" for you to compare with your shot. By the way - I only post those pics to usefilm.com that contain photographed elements (that I have taken) - and will not submit anything that is totally computer-generated.

frank it does not matter whether this is a digital creation or not.. photography includes aspects of illusion, and hence movies such as Star Wars rule the box office.. well done shot.. keep it up.. in the meantime please rate.. http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=126516

Frank,
After I posted my comment I went to see your portfolio. I understand a little more about the photo. You do very nice work. I am a Sci-fi nut. Those images are great.

Charles - This is made up of a cloud photo I took at 35,000 ft. over Greenland; a background film of a actual star field; and a CG-sphere wrapped with a Saturn planet-map, touched up in PhotoPaint.
Agusto - The darker area under the planet rings are the shadow of the rings falling on the planet's surface below the rings. That is just the geometry of the lighting. Original pix is 13 x 19 inches and shows this quite well. Reducing to 640 pixels width causes a lot of the original shadow and subtle shadows to 'drop out' or 'go-dark' in this size of image.

The lighted side of Saturn does not seem right! There should be a greater length at the bottom.

I like the picture but this seems to be a photoshop creation not a photograph. Please give more information if I am wrong.
