I can adjust a lot of things. 1. Intensity (is an artificial halogen light). 2. Color (colored filter or neutral filters are included in standard configuration of a professional microscope). DOF (two aperture controls, one for the source of light, second in the condenser - an optic piece who focus the light). 3. Polarization of light (is an accessory available only for "High end" level microscopes, who permit not only polarization of light, but also rotation of this polarization plan). Some microscopes may have even more gadgets for light control, for example an special condenser who aloud examination in black background. Some, have also multiple light sources from different directions. As an accessory or standard configuration for "high end" class, is possible to have UV light source, excellent for examination of fluorescent things.
