Fantastic image Richard. I will shortly be buying a new camera (possible a Canon G5), and I will be trying the same technique as you in reversing the 50mm lens. I am bowled over by shots like these because the detail is just amazing. I hope I can achieve similar shots myself some time this year. Excellent work, well done!

I've been looking at this picture for the last ten minutes trying to figure out what to say. I love the picture and wish I could give you some advice. Try to find a copy of the Nikon Handbook of Photography circa: early sixties. Incredible amount of useful advice that is missing in todays books. Book is in two volumes in looseleaf binders. Unfortunatly I lost my copies and about 50,000 slides a few years ago, including some pictures that are pretty much standards now. Keep on experimenting, that's the fun part!

Very good super macro shot.. I just have to say it would be better if the "nose" of the fly and the top hairs weren't cropped at all... Anyway, that's a good job, well done ! Alex

Beautiful rich details Richard.. And welcome to UseFilm community. And in macro mode, taking pictures of this details or magnitude is frustrating, 'cause you have such a narrow field of focus, you would have to literally move your lens within a few millimeters back/forth to get the right focus. I am assuming this Fly is Dead. If it were to be a Live one, it will not be there. That reminds me i should get read to take a couple of macro shots of a dead fly and a dead lady bug.. i would have to see how much details i can get.
Speaking of Macro Photography, you should look up "Mark Plonsky" works. I dont know if he has posted pictures on this forum.. but you can search for him.. he has done some great job with bugs in macro mode..
