About Taken at 11:19 pm on May 15 from my roof in NYC through a "break" in the clouds. Image is cropped to the resolution limit of my scanner. The sky was 99% overcast and I was lucky just to get a glimpse of totality. Due to all the clouds, I did not detect the reddish color visually. This and http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=141398 are the only two exposure I was able to capture that night. Otherwise, I was clouded out.

I am amazed at the persaverance you have (Others also). Who cares if this is a technically perfect shot or not. The fact that you have got anything is fantastic. Congratulations.

The centering has everything to do with cropping. I did a quick and dirty crop on the partial phase. The original on that was better centered. Image http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=134027 shows what this lens is capable of. My original plan was to use the 8" telescope to photograph the moon during the eclipse and to use a 50mm lens on the Hassy to compose a time sequence multiple exposure. Well, as you said, nature wasn't too cooperative.

I'm quite jealous, I stood in the rain all night, and not even a glimpse. You're well centered on this shot, I imagine with the care that you took for a still shot (cable release, tripod, 1 sec. exposure) that the blur is from the sky being overcast. Nature just didn't work with you this time around. There will be another shot at it in November!
