With "softening a bit the light on exposed details" do you mean reducing the brightness of the highlights? (Attachment.) I think it reduced the high contrast and made the contours less "aching".

Hi again Nick,
this type of architecture helps much the light wind through fractioned reliev and variety of form- and, high contrast shapes much and hids much- and so brings forth new visions of it, almost abstract!
the most poignant, after play of light Nick, i find the perspective; we have a start of 'appearance' on the left bottom which starts streaching over on the right- and so making it a beautiful composition;
i like this one a lot-
