About An unusual occurence - a full moon over Mt Wellington. Taken from my balcony this morning. An update - we are very fortunate to have these views from our home on a hillside where the views cannot be built-out! For this reason, we never close our drapes as no one can look in except the birds. I am a early riser and this was my view of the mountain. I ran for the camera and didn't have time to set up the tripod as the moon was setting. Enjoy!

Good composition and color, the branches do not bother me either,as it frames the photo.Keep up the good work.

I would never close my blinds either if I had a view like this! I like the inclusion of the branches, as it makes me feel as if I'm there, seeing the view, but they do feel a tad heavy on the right. Maybe some creative framing is in order to include them , but not make them SUCH a part of the image. Congrats on Photo of the Day!

I'd like to be as contrutive as possible. I do not agree with Horsi Hussein. However I would like to see less foreground in order to eliminate some bush on the left. Yes could be vertical format or whatever it would work better. Then, I believe this photo, as great as it is would stand out even better. Then yes, we'd share a bottle of good quality wine or whatever

Good exposure Carole. The moon is difficult because it needs VERY fast shutter speed to have details. Think that... try to take this photo using... believe it or not... 1/400sec shutter speed and the BIGGER aperture you have at your camera... so the sity will be in the photo and the details at the moon will be perfect. Just an idea.

Nice candid of the moonlit land. The tone is very beautiful. But the foreground is a bit cluttered. Next time move a little right and might be you could capture a still better shot.

Why don't ya move yr balcony a little to the right? :):):)

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 7/14/2003
This is a wonderful photo, so nicely composed and so great colourtones and mood! I don't mind the branches, they make a nice frame I think, and it gives a feeling to the viewer to be there seeing it oneself. Perhaps just a little bit cropping at the bottom, but not necessary. I think it's wonderful as it is! Everything is lovely but the absolute best part IMO is how the light falls down on the water. I just LOVE that part!

Quite a good capture under poor light - but I would probably also have ropped some of the branches in the front

Hi there,

I will be as constructive as I can as I love scenic photography. I think this shot would have been GREAT if the bushes was not there. Okej, just read it was from you balcony. Maybe try and crop it vertically just the moon hills and city. Other than that I would love to share a bottle of anything with that view :-)
