In a photo, an area noticably sharper than the rest of the picture will draw attention. An area noticably lighter than the rest of the pic will also draw attention. Now, if that area is not the same one, you've got a conflict going on in the photo. The light will draw me to one spot, while the focus will draw me to another spot. Try to avoid such situations.
Another thing, if you do take this with more DOF, I'd recommend finding either a different angle, or perhaps a smaller patch of berries. I say this because I already find this image a bit busy - the presence of that berry at the rear which is cut off by the right edge of the pic doesn't add to the image. At the moment, the fact that it is out of focus helps remedy the crop (to an extent), but this would not be the case with more DOF.
Anyway, seeing as you have a digital camera, just reshoot this with all sorts of DOFs and lighting situations and using various angles, and see what works best.
I can't agree with the "delicious" part of a previous comment, cuz aren't these berries Nightshade? Isn't that poisonous? j/k :-)
I love the colors you have here, but my eyes keep trying to bring everything into focus because of the strong colors and the bright, almost harsh light. The berries that are well lit should be in focus (in my humble opinion) and the shaded berries don't matter as much. Can you take this again with more even lighting and a larger DOF? I'd like to see the entire bunch in focus and without the blazing hot spots.
But I do love the colors. Beautifully captured.
All of this is my feeble, meager opinion. Keep shooting!
