Welcome to USEFILM! This is a very good effort here but it does need a few changes that would make it better. First off is it?s not sharp, when shooting a close up like this the image should be super sharp. How does the original look? Is it sharp? If so then it?s probably your scanner that is causing the problem. If you have some type of image editing software (like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc...) try running the un-sharp mask filter to help sharpen the image. Second problem is the lighting; the white area is on the verge of being blown out. The lighting for this should be softer more diffused. If you shot this outside then get a piece of white (almost transparent) velum and hold that over the flower to diffuse the light falling on it. This will create a softer light and also will lessen the shadows.
Also when shooting a shot like this you need to use a small aperture i.e. f8 to f22 to get the lens into it?s sharpest focal setting. This will give you a large DOF (depth of field) and will make the whole flower sharp.

Welcome here at usefilm, I am sure you will learn a lot from others here! This first contribution is a very pretty one. Nice composition and lightning and an original capture. Just a bit pitty the flower is so unsharp and a little too much overexposured in the white parts. My best regards,

Excellent potential. Love the negative space and excellent curves. Do however improve your technique a bit by getting your subject sharp and well exposed with a load of nice details and interesting lightning. You already have the hardest part done.
