O resto do portfolio... bem, bem... é melhor ficar calado!
Como eu gostava de saber fotografar e compor como (acho que) sei ver e ouvir...
Saudações.

Beautiful composition and lightning Nana, I really like the contrast between the calm patterns of the sand and the wild clouds in the sky. Great job! And ofcourse, congratulations on being photographer of the day! Well deserved. My best regards,

lovely picture. i can hardly tell it is sand, not water.

i would have liked to see it in color instead. the contrast of the dunes' yellowish color and the blue sky with the white clouds would look nice, i imagine.

Ahhhhhh! What a thrill to see one of my favorite B/W photographers here! Welcome to UF, Nana! I look forward to seeing more of your inspiring work. Your sand dune series photos are all marvelous -- In this one, I love what the red filter does to add drama to the clouds -- one of the reasons why I've become enamoured with IR filters too.

Congratulations Nana. Your work is spectacular. This image even if you aren't 100% happy with it, I think it is amazingly beautiful. That cloud formation is so dreamlike.

Espantosa. Como seria de esperar, da tua parte! Uma das coisas que me impressiona mais na tua fotografia é a extrema depuração, que consegues transmitir mesmo em jpegs tão pequenos como este...

Like old Fremens said once on Arrakis,
Dune is our life, Our life belongs to it. Its lines are drawn in our hands also.
Very nice picture
congrats

Wow, what a powerful image this is. Even if it is soft, I think the details in the image speak for the wisdom and discerning eye of the photographer. Wide sweeping desolate but moving landscape with the spray of clouds in the background reminding us of nature's awesome power to change.

Nana Sousa Dias   {K:263} 8/20/2003
Thank you, Patricia! I was familiarized with the process, but I didn't tried it before, on negatives. I didn't remember I could do that! I have selenium here, in my lab, to tone the prints, I think I'm gonna try that, I have 10 frames very similar to this one, if I destroy it, I have 9 more! ;-)

Patricia Eifel   {K:5097} 8/20/2003
This is a great image. Most of us would feel pretty good about having this negative (I would) but it is a bit flatter than some of your work. Maybe it would be worth trying some selenium intensification of the negative to boost contrast (particularly if you have a duplicate). I saw this done with great effect during a workshop with John Sexton. I imagine it works with tri-x as well as t-max but it would probably be best to test it out on an unimportant negative. You may already be familiar with the technique but just in case---

N+2??? Now there are some drastic measures! :-)

I like it as is Nana! Keep posting :-)

Nana Sousa Dias   {K:263} 8/20/2003
Deniz:

The negative is very flat, I don't know what hapened here, I develop my films and, usually, I don't do this kind of mistake! Nevertheless, something went wrong, I still don't know what, maybee the film was not ok, not with this particular frame, the entire roll is flat. I agree with you, a bit more contrast, particularly on the sand, would be nice, this was printed in 5 grade filter, i printed it in a difuse light enlarger, and then in a condenser enlarger, to get a bit more contrast, but it's useless! Next time I will carry my 4x5 Wista, shoot for the shadows and develop it with N+2 expansion time, then if I want, I can reduce the contrast! ;-)

One in a million cloiud formation. Looks like its erupting out of that point on the horizon. All rushing to get out into that previously empty sky. Good texture on the sand ripples too :P
