In this case I think a sharper background would be better.

This is a different approach compared to what I've seen previously. It has a much more gentler 'eye' (for lack of a better word) on things. Perhaps it's because I've been looking at Death Valley from a different perspective. Always good to see it in a different light, and this is different.

This is an interesting shot, and a great choice of subject. I think you achieved an excellent range of tones, and have a great use of the natural light. My only opinion is on the choice of composition. While I wasnt there, I think the including of the mountain range makes it a little complex because you have two different natural forms, that may have been your reasoning, so thats cool. But also, the footprints on the left of the closest dune, are distracting. Alot of photographers choose to pick a part that seems untouched by humans, to keep the very natural effect. Just a thought. Beautiful PS work, the sephia works very well. Nice job.
