Oooh I like this. A sort of rough treatment to a typical soft floral type image. I like the high contrast and sepia. Well done.

Sarah, I like this one! It's got your trademark, almost textbook, style of composition. But best I think is your light catching on the petal edges; that with the deep darks makes a really special image. Cheers!
For the "set-up" on my last I tripoded the camera and lay on my back under it, looking back and up into the lens. I was mimicing something I'd seen, and was going to make a high-key but didn't have the darks where I wanted them. So I started playing with it, scrubing and painting to get my summer tan off, and that's what I came up with! It is a tad pale, but PS stuff [other than contrast and levels] is brand new for me. Thanks for your kind comments!

This really is a wonderful macro, Sarah. Beautiful toning accentuates the form and texture over color, which works very well here. Your central composition also works well with the radiating pattern of the surrounding leaves. Also, your shallow DOF is terrific in drawing the viewer's eye right to that sharp center. This is a beautifully rendered image that you should be proud of. Tell that Professor to go jump in the lake ;-)) (I came here after reading your forum post)... Keep up the excellent work, Sarah.
