Well thanks very much Kristina. I certainly won't change it, though I might try again one of these days. Then again I've been saying this for months and haven't been back. Imperfect as it is, I like this picture a lot, too. Thanks again.

Ooh don't change this, pleease! I just added it to my favourites, I LOVE it the way it is! The composition is fantastic, and the style of being colour but at same time quite pale colours, makes it really original! I love the light, and this mix of cold waves in the wind while the sun is coming to heat everything up!

Toni - I just cropped two RAW images at 100% and overlayed them in PS - zoom at 100% on the houses shows no difference in sharpness. It *does* show a difference in contrast - the posted image needs a bit of contrast which would help a bit with apparent sharpness. The foreground is a touch sharper with f/22, but not enough to notice at 640x420 as posted. The tripod was set on boulders, and the wind wasn't enough to move things, and I didn't see a halo indicating camera shake. But both images were set on AF since my eyesight is bad and I don't trust my ability to focus.
I'm left with the thoughts of poor glass or needing better Photoshop work.

Scott, I don't think the glass would be that bad. Was the wind blowing hard? If the tripod was in the sand, that could have been a problem. Otherwise, you might want to reset your diopter adjustment. Maybe it got bumped. Does the image look like this on your monitor? Maybe you forgot to sharpen it before uploading. That is necessary for an upload.

Toni - that's what the EXIF said, f/4. It doesn't seem right - I have several other shots a f/22 and there's no difference in sharpness. This isn't a great lens (Canon 28-90mm) so maybe that's why it's not so sharp. But the f/22 shots are slower (1/4), and the waves in them don't look too good really. Thanks for the comments though. Maybe I'll go back *once again* when I get some better glass.

Scott, I am curious as to why you would want to use f4 and get no sharp depth of field throughout the image. I would shoot this at f 16, 19 or 22, get total depth of field and slow the waves down for some nice blur or misty effect. Those apertures would add so much sharpness to the photo. Try it again. Maybe you will get the sky you are looking for also.
