About Taken for an assignment for NYIP. Once I reviewed the assignment, I realized I didn't follow directions. I was only supposed to use 1 light at 45 deg. I used 3 lights and a reflector for this one. Your comments are appreciated.

Elan, yes I remember you and this was done for Unit 3. I can't use it because of the lighting, so I'll have to do it differently.

Maggie, thank you so much for your suggestions. I will try it with your lighting technique. You've been very helpful, and I really appreciate it. By the way, your Crown Royal is spectacular.

Hi Loyce... for a shot like this you definitely dont need 3 lights. Notice one of your lights is causing a hot area coming in from the upper right. Using one light and reflectors will give you all the light that you need in this image along with white reflectors to bounce light into dark areas.

I am attaching a lighting diagram i used to light an image in my portfolio here on Usefilm called "Crown Royal" I just used one hotlight with a diffuser in front of it and a gold reflector on the opposite side to bring out the golden/red color of the crown royal and its label.

The white reflector in the back left gave me the edge on the bottle..most noticeable on the neck in the small .jpg thats posted on usefilm. This reflector can be moved back and forth to adjust the width of that edge but you want it to be very thin just enough to separate the bottle or glass from the background.

I also used a gold reflector in the front to bounce light onto the label...this is what you should have done to get more detail on the leaves and reduce the shadow under and in front of the rose.

I also agree with Ivan you need more space at the bottom. You wont beleive how many times i tried shots like this before i got them right. Keep working at it and PLEASE your redo's so we can see them. You only improve by doing an assignment over and over until its perfect.

The fellow that taught me said..."once you can light a bottle perfect you can light anything" Good luck and i look forward to seeing more of yours work...*smile* Maggie

Sharpness sharpness and sharpness.... I also want a little bit more space on the bottom of the pic for the flower shadow.

See ya in school - I'm a student of NYIP as well:)
