Thank you for your nice comments. I took the picture in my kitchen,handheld, with harsh light(luminescent lamp )added a candle to both sides of the rose to soften light. Picture is as it is, only cropped, resized and a little sharpened.

Beautiful color and detail. How did you light this, was it natural light or did you force some kind of lighting from behind? I can almost smell it, great eye!

This is sharp and soft in all the right places - nice colors - I woulsd like to see it turned very slightly - rotated - I mean to the right - so the petals provide an opening to the heart

All said... it is a beautiful macro... sharp... very wonderful colors... may be cropping in square would look better IMO, but it is still beautiful as is...

The colors are enhanced by the great lighting on this shot. Well composed and wonderful detail. The rose seems to glow. Beautifully done.

This is really neat; the backlight/sidelight makes the petals glow. Just where I would normally see it losing focus (due to depth of field) instead there is something just as interesting going on with the neat lighting. The combination of light and depth of field balances so well, I can't see anything to improve on it there. I do feel the cropping at the top edge is slightly tight; tho I only notice that after I get over the WOW of the colors/shape.
