The contrast between the little and fragile human figure and the size and stateliness of the church is fantastic, the scene is moving and it tells a sad history, only I think that the B/W tones are a bit few contrasted, maybe a personal taste, but more contrast would have increased the dramacity of the moment. In any case, an excellent photo. Bye Max

There's a very intense mood and atmosphere to your photo. The lighting enhances that mood even more; Superbly done! There seems to be a greyish wash over the photo, which', IMHO makes the tonal range a bit dull; although this suits nicely with the mood and emotion (radiating from the photo) I think a bigger contrast on the whites and the blacks would increase the effect of the photo; None the less a very intreguing, compelling and powerful photo, my compliments and welcome to UF!

Cheers,

Hugo

Thank you Alisa, and everyone else. :) I did try to rotate, but even the slightest rotation would for some reason blur the image, and when using a sharpening tool afterwards... it would cause undesired grain. Hopefully I wont have this problem once I get my film scanner and stop using this ole' flatbed scanner.

:]

hi welcome to usefilm. I also shoot with a Canon Rebel (not digital tho)
I like this shot, nice expression and mood, the lighting isn't bad but I think it needs a touch more contrast, I'd like to see some crisper black in some spots.
nice composition.

cheers,
nicole

A photo that has emotional impact always catches my eye. The toning, subject and composition all add to this. I'm seeing a tilt. Have you tried roting this in PS to the right?
Welcome to the site.
