"as seen"... no layers, no photoshop, no "fixing".
Simple Nature... at it best!

Karen,
If I had been there I bet you anything my photo would of come out way more blurry than this one. I hate tripods cause they slow me down. I take as little supplies possible when I go out. When I find an ideal place to shoot I get excited and I don't slow down.
A friend of mine as been "yelling" at me to bring a tripod when I go out and only now I am starting to see his point. I come home and play in photo shop, but by the time I get done cropping and such there are few pixels left to make a decent print. My new mantra is going to be "In camera, MMMMmmmm (eyes closed), In camera, Mmmmmm......"

Alisa... I wish you HAD been there..... with a more "controllable" camera. You could have done this little fella justice.

My Nikon, while it has many settings, and choices, many available options....simply takes way too long to maneuver through all the menus to make the necessary changes. Frogs, as long as their legs are working, do not tend to hang around long, especially with a potential predator with a one-eyed shiny black box invading their space.

When I go back to that spring, I'll be fully prepared, with tripod, macro lens, and remote shutter release.... so I can stay dry, the frog can stay calm and the pic can be focused. But I am glad I was able to witness the tiny things hitchin' rides on floating leaves. I went there to get some pics of beavers chewing down trees... and found frogs too.

Happy snapping!

Cropped, sharpened and tweaked the exposure a bit.

As an artistic type image this one certainly has merit, but as a nature image it is too blurry. I would crop some off the right side and bottom so that the subject is not so centered. The colour tones and the subject matter are pleasing, but the composition and focus need some work.

Karen,
What drew me to this photo was it's delicate nature and warm colors working together.
I am however noticing a bit of blur to this.
So, you are hiking along, in low light and you don't have a tripod (often my case), what do you do? With my digital I set the ISO to 400 and the aperture to the lowest possible. As you have noticed with mine, this doesn't always work.
I was also thinking that your subject might benefit if you zoomed in on him so he won't get lost in his surroundings. Not an easy task while trying to remain stable and staying at least half dry. What a find. It must of been an exciting experiance. This city girl would love a crack at this.

Randy... when one speaks of "layers' in the photo world, I think of a composite photo. Just in case anyone thinks that in regard to this photo.....this photo is "as seen"... no layers, no photoshop, no "fixing".
The tiny frogs were indeed riding on leaves. Was magical. I had never seen it before. I almost fell in the pond trying to get a good shot. I did get wet, but only up to my knees.. oh and one elbow.

I am glad you liked it.

Hi Karen, This is a cool picture with a great tone to it befitting a frogs world. Wonderful layers of frog and leaf, water surface, and below. .........Randy

(many thanks for your comments and I intend to be back for better look at your other photos)
