Hi Mandy; this one gets 7's all the way through. It has a very strong documentary feel to it. It makes me wonder about what she's thinking. Is it about the future? For her, for the country?
Very well composed, the child and the flag are in the right position, she has an intense and deep expression, not so usual for a child and so very original, I think the B/W is the better choice for this kind of shot, only the tones of the background and the dress are very similar and she doesn?t stand out perfectly, fortunately she has brown hair and this helps a lot; a good photo with a great concept behind it. Bye Max
PS: thanks for your comment and for your extra kind words for me!!! Kiss
Easily the most compelling thing in your portfolio on this site. I'm not referring to the flag, of course, but to the simplicity and sincerity of the moment. I would have guessed a very slow shutter speed, however, because it seems just slightly blurred. I like the lines and shadows of the siding, and I love that the subject is looking at the flag as though trying to grasp it as a concept, more skeptical than anything. She's also holding it clinically, as children do when they've been told to hold something.
