Id like to experiment with a macro!! nice work! -- I agree with you on my fight image... it was the other side of the ice unfortunatley... plus its 800 speed film... I try not to crop too much with the speed.... but cropping is fine for the digital representation on here I suppose. -- Yes, the clairty was lost in scanning... I hate that!-- thats why Im going to buy a 10D with in a week or 2!

If you crank up the lights, you may be able to extend your depth of field on this shot, which I believe would help tremendously.

George,
I was using the recommendation for the macro flash unit, based on extension, and compensated for the film speed. A smaller aperture would probably lead to underexposure. I will eventually try a faster film.
I was shooting a series of macro shots to demonstrate for someone on another forum the performance of the 80mm Planar with the bellows. That person was surprised to learn that the 80mm can be used with the bellows. This was the one image I positioned the subject to demonstrate the shallowness of the DOF.

Beautiful macro. Did you intentionally loosen up the DOF? I'd be interested to see what f/16 or f/22 would do for this.
