The building here is a Hindu temple for God Venkataswara, also known as lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is one of the three main gods of Hinduism. The other two are Shiva(God of death) and Brahma(God of birth). Krishna is the god of life. Apart from these three gods, we have multitude of other gods such as god of wealth, god of education, god of this and that etc., very much like the old Greek panthenon.
