About Can some one tell me how come such circular effect on the picture. I realized I set the ISO to 50 on P mode, which yielded shutter=1/5 and aperture=f2.8. I hand held the camera.

Your answer seemed to explain this phenomenon. I did it unpurposely. So, it is a technics! Thanks for your reply. --Eric

wow ... tht's circulat panning ... which i m learning now... it's hard...
usually panning is panned horizontally, circular panning is panned with spinning your camera with low shutter and the object at the center must be clear(not off the center point) ....
hope i m right, learn this from other websites

Hi Eric,

What we have here is the movement of the camera while the image was recorded by the CCD. As you know the CCD works on the same way as film. The ISO 50 setting is very low, causing you to have longer exposure times to get the right picture, though it would have more quality.

So if you exposed for 1/5 or .20 of a second. Any movement of the camera will be recorded by the CCD because is a long exposure and since you hand held the camera for this picture, you could move the camera without noticing and/or wanting to.

For shots with a speed lower than 1/60 of a second you should use a trypod and a cable release to make the long exposure without moving the camera. Because even with the trypod as you push the shuter boton, you'll move the camera and it will be recorded.

If you had set the ISO to 400 and use the "P" or program mode, I guess it should have come just fine.

I hope this will help you Eric.

Be seeing you...

Raamses.
